1st Shift Hours
Monday - Thursday 6:45 am - 3:00 pm, Friday 5:30 am - 12:30 pm, additional overtime or weekend hours as scheduled

Position Objective
Assist the Die Cutter Operator and Assistant Die Cutter Operator in running the press in the most efficient method to obtain optimum productivity. 

Job Duties:
  • Assist the operators and assistants in the stripping of trim waste and the stacking of blanks.
  • Working with the operators and assistants to maintain quality and productivity while minimizing waste.
  • Periodically examine the blanks and inform the operator of any defects found such as dirty or poor print quality, register, stickers, or missing matrix.
  • Assist the operator in maintaining good print to cut register and good overall print quality.
  • Assist the operator in maintaining good cutting and creasing quality and in checking blanks for proper alignment and fold-up.
  • Assist the assistant operator in returning all dies, stripping cylinders, plates, inks, gears and other supplies to their correct storage places after runs are completed.
  • Help maintain the work area in a neat, orderly manner. 
  • Work with the assistant die cutter operator to help learn and develop the skills needed to perform the duties of the assistant die cutter operator. 
  • Follow all WS Packaging Group, Inc.’s rules for the Food Safe Product Program.
  • Operates all equipment with all guards and safety features.
  • Wears Company provided safety equipment as required by company policy, supplier instructions and/or OSHA regulations.
  • Stores all supplies, chemicals and equipment in a safe and orderly manner.
  • Complete others duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Skills:
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. 
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. 

Physical Demands:
Web-Fed Presses: Individuals must be capable of lifting approximately 100-pound roll shafts from floor to waist level occasionally during an 8-10 hour shift.  Lifting from thigh to chest level 125-140 pound die chases (with assistance of operator) is occasionally required.  Print cylinders weighing from 20-50 pounds must be lifted from the floor to above waist level occasionally during the shift.  Regularly during production runs, cartons or blanks with or without scrap must be taken from a continuous conveyor that is at waist level.  Blanks must be jogged, scrap removed and the blanks stacked in units weighing from 5-30 pounds on pallets.  Stacking will begin on floor level and reach a maximum height of 68”. During the scrapping of waste, a repetitive twisting and bending action involving the wrist and lower arm is required.  
Sheet Fed Presses: Must be able to aerate loads of stock ahead of production schedule.  Pallets of die cut sheets must be pulled from the machine using a manual pallet jack occasionally during the 8-10 hour shift.  Average weight is 500 to 750 pounds.  Regularly during the runs, scrap must be removed from the blanks and the blanks stacked on skids (height: floor to a maximum of 52”).  During the scrapping of blanks, a repetitive twisting and bending action involving the wrist and lower arm is required.  Ability to lift blanking and stripping frames of up to 125#’s to chest level and put the frames into the cutter with the aid of the die cutter assistant or die cutter operator.
All Presses: Ability to walk and stand on a concrete floor for 8-10 hours per shift.  Ability to work with inks, varnish, solvents and other chemicals and supplies.  Ability to work in an environment with paper dust suspended in the air.
