Role and Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate facilities to ensure electrical, air, and HVAC requirements are met during preparations for the install of new equipment or moves of existing equipment.
  • Develop and provide project timelines to facility and executive management, along with working with scheduling and Maintenance to coordinate efforts.
  • Develop Equipment Spec’s and acceptance criteria.
  • R & D of new equipment approaches and technologies proprietary to WS Packaging.
  • Daily management of Engineering team members and project assignments to ensure schedules and deadlines are met.
  • Assist in developing plant layout in planning rearrangement of facilities, equipment and operations for better utilization of space.
  • Work closely with innovations, quality assurance and maintenance personnel to prevent problems with products and tooling/fixtures.
  • Stay informed concerning new manufacturing technologies and equipment in order to manufacture and reduce cost through efficiencies.
  • Support new equipment introductions.
  • Ensure vendors/subcontractors are manufacturing products according to product specifications.
  • Able to assist in reducing cost through re-engineering product/material.
  • Assist in the assessment of vendor/subcontractor evaluation for consideration.
  • Select vendors/subcontractors for new product launches to meet target date.
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:
Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Process or Industrial) or equivalent work experience.
Minimum of seven to ten years’ experience in Engineering related field and at least five years’ management/supervisory experience. Experience with flexographic and offset printing equipment as well as corresponding finishing and support equipment a plus.

Preferred Skills:
  • Solid Works (3D CAD) and/or Auto Cad (2D CAD) Proficiency
  • Ability to design and evaluate mechanical and electrical systems in above programs
  • Programming of PLC systems and vision systems
  • Project Management experience with technical capacity
  • Microsoft Office – Excel, Word, MS Project, Visio, and Outlook
  • Experience in tool design and modifications
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and coordinate priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to facilitate conversations with suppliers, co-workers, management, and subordinates.
  • Proven leadership skills to motivate subordinates to work effectively and efficiently; ability to clearly communicate expectations and manage the performance of subordinates to achieve goals.
  • Ability to analyze data to identify trends, areas for opportunity, and to determine needed changes.
  • Must be self-motivated, organized, and results and action oriented.
  • Must possess sound interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to make independent and sound decisions.

Physical Demands:
Quiet conditions; will work in a manufacturing environment at which time noise level may be medium to loud. Will be required to wear hearing, foot, and/or other personal protective equipment while performing duties in a manufacturing setting. Frequently may be required stand for a long period of time, stoop and kneel on a continuous basis. May handle, feel and reach for items in and around press area, also write or use a keyboard to communicate through written means. Some walking and lifting and/or move up to 40 lbs. may be required. Vision: close vision, distance and color vision to distinguish color variations, peripheral and depth perception as well as the ability to adjust focus. Must be flexible to work varying schedules and hours as needed.
