Position Objective: The Material Handler is responsible for Receiving Raw Materials and supplies from vendors, delivering them to the appropriate departments. Maintaining Raw Materials and Finished Goods in our Warehouse. Gathering and staging raw materials to production. They are responsible for meeting all customer and WSPG requirements in a timely manner.
Role and Responsibilities
  • Understand and adhere to the policies and procedures outlined in the employee manual.
  • Understand and support the Corporate Mission Statement, Values, Vision, and Operating Principles.
  • Adhere to mandatory daily stretch, safety requirements.
  • Meet attendance standards.
  • Practices and sustains Lean Manufacturing and 6S procedures.
  • Seek to improve Material Handling processes through recommending equipment enhancement, process improvements and procedure changes.
  • Use good judgment and “best for business” tactics when dealing with trouble shooting problems and opportunities.
  • Request help from the Production Supervisor during peak periods.
  • During slow periods or as otherwise necessary, assist other departments.
  • Assist in participating in Root Cause Countermeasure activities to identify areas where improvement is needed and put a plan in motion to address those areas.
  • Report and participate in safety incident investigation while maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Work with all departments to assure that production schedules, purchases, procedures and capabilities are maintained & followed resulting in exceptional product produced for our customers.
  • Maintain appropriate and legible HMIS labels where applicable.
  • Must be able to Safety operate Lift Trucks and Powered Pallet Jacks.
  • Must sign off on Daily Task lists and Lift Truck Safety sheets.
  • Able to learn company specialized software and perform tasks within the system
  • Able to learn inventory process for staging areas, Work in Progress, Kan Ban items and finished goods
  • Unloads all incoming trucks, and loads all outgoing trucks.
  • Receives into inventory Raw Materials.
  • Supply production cells with raw material, consistently monitoring each cell to prevent “stock outs”.
  • Receives and distributes incoming packaging and supplies to appropriate departments.
  • Ability to look for alternative means to fulfill the requirements of a production job when the requested materials are not available
  • Perform cycle counts of Raw material and Finished Goods, investigates and reports reasons for discrepancies.
  • Performs semi-annual physical inventory.
  • Monitor waste and recycling containers and empty in appropriate area as needed.
  • Coordinates the pickup of recyclables and waste containers.
  • Receive Finished Goods and Kan Ban items from Production and inventories for later shipment.
  • Inventory and order supplies as needed.
  • Rotate weekend “On-Call” coverage.
  • Required to work 12 hour shifts; required to work weekends as scheduled on a regular or as-needed basis.
