Provide support to all press departments, by ensuring a quality product is produced for the printing process. Responsible for the daily maintenance and upkeep of plates and the plate room, ensuring that plates are available and accessible for all areas of production; responsible, but not limited to manufacturing and mounting plates onto printing cylinders for upcoming jobs and perform various plant support activities as needed for production

Role and Responsibilities:
  • Output plates and perform QC check on each.
  • Assemble “kit” with all plates and coating blankets required for job. Shuttle plates to appropriate area.
  • Maintain daily plate log.
  • Keep all machines clean and free of dust and dirt.
  • Keep CTP room floor clean and free of dust and dirt – wet mop monthly.
  • Monitor and maintain proper chemistry levels by checking them on a daily basis. Change chemistry and  developer filter as needed or scheduled.
  • Clean processor rollers as required – lifting required.
  • Maintain adequate plate & plate chemistry supply.
  • Load plates as needed – lifting and bending required.
  • Cut coating blankets as needed using CAD plotter.
  • Output and mount FinalProofs to the correct stock.
  • Cut and assemble FinalProofs and Spinjet proofs as needed - manually or using CAD plotter.
  • Maintain cost folder & estimates files.
  • Do regular maintenance, change filters, clean brushes, wipe off bulbs, clean plate washout deck and change tanks.
  • Assist with plate adjustments on press and routinely check on press progress.
  • Manages time and assists in other areas of the pre-production and art departments when time permits.
  • Required to work 12 hour shifts; required to work weekends as scheduled on a regular or as-needed basis.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED Required.  2 years of experience in the field or in a related area required.
Preferred Skills:
  • Knowledge of commonly-used equipment, concepts, practices, and procedures within the print industry.

Physical Demands:
Must be flexible to work varying schedules and hours as needed. While performing the duties of the job, employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand. The employee is occasionally required to walk, sit, use hands to write or type, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Manufacturing environment requires hearing, foot, and/or other personal protective equipment while performing duties in a manufacturing setting.
