Description
Position Objective:
The MultiVision® Project Technician reports to the Multivision Product Development Manager and Plant Manager and is responsible for assisting in the creation of MultiVision® extended text label product development. Document, validate and verify new/existing jobs with MV Team, plant production staff, Innovations and other WSPG resources, both internal and external.  Working as part of a team, the MV Project Technician will capture production floor documentation from line trial through first production run. The Project Technician will support line trial submissions for client approval. Occasionally, the MV Hub will act as a PMO (Project Management Office) for work outside the extended text label arena. This may include prime label.
 
Role and Responsibilities:
  • Create drawings and art templates in Adobe Illustrator and utilize the MultiVision® Shared Site numbering system.
  • Produce hand mockups as required by customers. At times, this can be collaboration between the digital print department and MV Hub.
  • Document requirements (Vision, MV SharePoint Site, Knowledge Base) for product functionality and accurately communicate the needs to Prepress, Operations, Quality and other departments as required for efficient execution of customer line trials and initial production order.  Own WI 999-72 MultiVision® Line Trial Process for assigned plants.
  • Validate production planning theory using problem solving skills and internal resources to ensure product trial success while minimizing financial risk to both client and WS Packaging Group. Understand risk response and work with production floor to mitigate risk to client and WSPG. Risk Model operating procedure provided OP-73-MultiVision® New Project Development Procedure.
  • Plan and manage multiple projects at a time, coordinating resources, the supply chain, and delivery in order to attain goals.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Provide technical assistance to Sales, Customer Service Representatives and clients to better understand Multivision® extended text label designs and application.
  • Review, identify, and understand item order specifications (client or WSPG) without direct supervision.
  • Work with Plant Resources/Innovations as needed for project improvement including MV inks, release coatings, materials, sampling plans.
  • Navigate through MV Shared site to find and file documentation.
  • Create, utilize and follow a WP (Work Package) and be able to speak to the WBS (Work Breakdown Structure) of tasks.
  • Represent both WSPG and the customer to meet agreed upon expectations, resulting in a mutually beneficial business relationship.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of WSPG capabilities, products, services, systems & policies.
  • Understand each customer’s custom label application and production environment
  • Work as a team to inspect incoming line trial products for functionality that minimize risk before client approved production run.
  • Interface with customers, the sales department, and co-workers to resolve any problems related to product or process failure, and/or potential failures.
  • Using a team approach, troubleshoot product improvement requests via production feedback report and field line trial report card.
  • Review and update internal test orders and failed line trials for product improvement.
  • Maintain technical competency and remain current with changes in technology in the printing industry.
  • Be a “Customer Experience Owner” striving to deliver excellent service and build customer loyalty through consistent, effective communication with customers, Sales & Production
  • Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations.
  • Maintain departmental housekeeping standards.

Requirements

Qualifications and Education Requirements:
High School diploma or GED is required. Associates degree in Business Management or Administration, or the equivalent knowledge and experience is preferred.
 
Requires thorough knowledge of the operation including: flexographic printing, die cutting, pre-press and pre-production functions generally acquired with 5 or more years of experience with label manufacturing, product development and/or project management certification
 
Preferred Skills:
  • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to facilitate conversations with co-workers, management, sales, and/or vendors.
  • Experience with critical thinking, creative problem solving, and strong influential skills.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office and Mac Applications with the ability to learn company specialized software programs.
  • Careful attention to detail.
  • High expectation for quality products and service.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, corporate operating instructions, plant specific work instructions and forms, and cGMP standards and work orders.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure (US & Metric) and understand algebra.
  • Skillful use of MultiVision® distribution email usage, using professional grammar, spelling and punctuation.
