Description
Position Objective:
The Scheduler assists in the scheduling of assigned product lines and ensures all manufactured and purchased parts are available for production to meet customer delivery requirements in accordance with company policies and procedures.

Role and Responsibilities:
• Develop and maintain the production schedule as prescribed by the sequence and lead time of each operation to meet shipping dates according to customer orders.
• Group jobs to gain press efficiency.
• Confer with TRPs, VSMs and department supervisors to determine status of assigned projects.
• Update scheduling system regularly. Prepare and post production scheduling reports.
• Check schedule against the status of required materials, tools, art and equipment to ensure the job can run as scheduled.
• Communicate regularly with customer service and supervisor regarding new jobs that may require realigning the schedule to meet customer needs.
• Expedite operations that delay schedules and alter schedule to meet unforeseen conditions.
• Use good judgment and “best for business” tactics when dealing with trouble shooting problems and opportunities.
• Apply lean philosophy through Kaizen event participation, improvement activities and lean initiatives to support corporate objectives.
• Ensure 6S visual scans are completed as well as 6S standards followed thru sustainment activities.
• Assist in participating in Root Cause Countermeasure activities to identify areas where improvement is needed and put a plan in motion to address those areas.
• Participation in continuous improvement efforts in value stream to ensure waste reduction, cost savings, increase speed, and on time delivery
• Assists customer service team with order entry and Hub process

Qualifications and Education Requirements:
High school diploma or general education degree (G.E.D.). Degree or Two year certificate from college or technical school preferred.
Minimum of three years scheduling experience in the label/printing industry or five+ years in a manufacturing capacity.

Preferred Skills:
• A thorough understanding of, or ability to learn, the process flow and capabilities of WS Packaging Group.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Software including Outlook, Word, and Excel,
• The ability to learn company specialized software programs.
• Solid verbal and written communications skills with strong ability to follow written or verbal instructions
• Significant product/process knowledge.
• Proven organizational skills.
• Able to work well under pressure and adjust well to change.
• Able to positively influence others and work well with various levels of employees.
• Good business sense and ability to see the big picture.
• Basic math skills to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division as well as to read and comprehend measurements on a ruler.
• The ability to devise multiple alternative solutions based on limited assumptions and information

Physical Demands:
This position works in both an office and production environment. May, on a continuous basis, sit at a desk for a long period of time; intermittently answer telephone and write or use a keyboard to communicate through written means. Some walking and lifting up to 20 lbs. may be required. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate whereas the production environment will be moderate to high (hearing protection is required and provided). May be required to stand for long periods of time while performing duties at plant. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles and risk of electric shock. Must be flexible to work varying schedules and hours as needed. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus.
