Senior Financial Analyst

Position Objective:  
Provide strong financial advice and analysis to drive business growth and process improvements within a well-controlled environment.  Through run rate analysis and productivity metrics, utilize charts, graphs and statistics to adequately measure plant performance for goal setting, forecast reasonability and policy deployment.  Partner with site-level management and assist in leading strategy development for WS Packaging Group, Inc.     
Essential Functions:
  • Perform Plant level Accounting including preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, and direct month-end close process for assigned plants
  • Collaborate regularly and frequently with site-level management regarding financial performance
  • Analyze financial results of plant and recommend actions to drive performance to goals
  • Complete, analyze, and communicate Daily Management results and metrics to drive performance to goals
  • Prepare updated forecasts at least monthly to reflect performance for the rest of the year
  • Provide Cost Accounting services that meet the needs of the plant, including job costing of customers and products, margin analyses, modeling, and ad hoc reports
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of inventory accuracy
  • Support and participate in Kaizen events, 6S, Total Preventative Maintenance, and other continuous improvement efforts, as required of this position. This includes activities to this specific position/plant, as well as company-wide initiatives in other areas of the organization.
  • Calculate ROI on requested capital spending and analyze actual spend to plan; reconcile fixed assets to accounting records on a periodic basis; manage capital budget for the plant
  • Ensure accuracy of inventory counts and values; plan for and participate in plant physical inventory counts as needed; coordinate annual physical inventory counts for annual financial audit
  • Support the businesses via providing financial analysis and consultation on new business opportunities, product changes, capital expenditures and inventory management
  • Participate in streamlining the data collection process from the ERP system
  • Adhere to Corporate Accounting policies and processes
  • May be required to perform other related duties as required and/or assigned


Requires a minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance, MBA or CMA preferred.
Requires a minimum of 5 years relevant financial analysis in a manufacturing organization, preferably in a dynamic environment (many SKU's, customers, frequent volume and mix changes, etc.).  In addition, qualified candidates will possess the following competencies:
  • Ability to communicate and explain financial data to all levels within the organization
  • Highly detailed and analytical in dealing with financial data
  • Must have excellent work habits, including a willingness to work the hours necessary to get the job done; self-motivated
  • Proficient in MS Office products and high capability in advanced analytics using spreadsheet software
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to handle conversations with plant management, VP of Operations, VP of Accounting & Treasury, and Chief Operating Officer
Experience in a growth stage company, and background that is wide-ranging having required comprehensive analysis of complex situations, creative problem solving and strong influence skills is highly desired. 
Working Conditions:
Works in an office environment.  May, on a continuous basis, sit at desk for a long period of time; intermittently answer telephone and write or use a keyboard to communicate through written means. Some walking and lifting up to 20 lbs. may be required.  The noise level in the office work environment is usually low to moderate.  Will spend some time in a manufacturing environment and be required to wear hearing, foot, and/or other personal protective equipment while performing duties in a manufacturing setting.  Must be flexible to work varying schedules and hours as needed.  Occasional overnight travel may be required.  The physical demands described above are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
